Jakarta in three days Itinerary
Day one in Jakarta
Located in Tanjung Duren area, Central Park mall has everything under one roof. Although I’m not a fan of malls, I don’t mind spending hours of time here – be it shopping, restaurant hopping, listening to live bands in the evenings or watching a movie. It’s oh so charming.
The unique concept of an all-vegetarian – Dharma Kitchen is that every dish here is the imitation of the famous Indonesian non-vegetarian dishes – like Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng, Nasi Sapo Ayam, and so on, the vegetarian way using mainly mushroom, tofu, and soya. Once you start eating, you are surely going to be awestruck that it is indeed vegetarian.
Watching movie at CGV blitz
Along with regular and gold class, CGV Blitz offers velvet class – a luxurious bed setting for watching movies at your own comfort in style. It costs about 220,000 ($18) for 2 people, which I think is fairly priced for the amazing movie experience.
Frozen yogurt at Llaollao. Next hop on to Taiyaki– a Japanese fish-shaped cake. If you want to try Kopi Luwak, the most expensive coffee in the world – it’s available in the mall too. Also, try out avocado juice which is quite readily available. Head over to PIK after Central Park mall.
Evening at PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk), Jakarta
Around 12kms from the airport lies PIK – filled with imperial style buildings, themed restaurants, delicious food and gorgeous cars to gawk at. Each restaurant is themed and unique in its own way. It’s hard to pick a favorite because there are so many. Kind of place where you can spend the entire evening chit-chatting while gorging on some exquisite dishes. Make sure you have ample of time to spend in PIK. You won’t regret it.
Day two in Jakarta
Cheesecake at Cikini
This was indeed the best cheesecake I ever had. It’s oh so yummy, soft and melts in your mouth. And thank me later.
Relaxing Aromatherapy Massage
If you are in for some indulgence, hop into one of the many day spas scattered around Jakarta. Around 100 meters from cheesecake Cikini, you can find Martha Tilaar Salon day spa which offers a comprehensive list of messages. Since they are usually booked, it’s good to make a reservation in advance. Starts at about 350,000 Rupiah( $26 ) per person.
Shopping at Grand Indonesia Mall
One stop shopping for all your shopping needs including and not limited to Batik( method of dying fabrics indigenous to Indonesia), high-end designer stores of apparels, shoes, cosmetics, a variety of coffee and souvenirs.
Skye bar is located on the 56th floor of the Grand Indonesia mall – it offers breathtaking views of Jakarta skyline. Preferable to visit during the night for the gorgeous lighted up views. The VIP seats cost about 1 million Rupiah ($75) which offers the best views in the bar.
Day three in Jakarta
Day at Ancol Beach
Ancol beach is a nice place to chill out with friends and family. It has sea aquarium, knee boarding, cycling and so on. Although, water not being clean evaded me from any water-related activities. The best part though is the dinner at Ancol beach restaurants which offers brilliant lit up views of the surrounding area.
Karaoke night in Jakarta
Karaoke culture is very much a crowd favorite in Jakarta. Try private karaoke with a group of friends when in Jakarta. Else, you could also hop on to an open karaoke to sing and dance the night away.
