The Roving Heart – An Experiential and Adventure Blog of an Indian Female Traveler

Hola! I’m Raksha Rao, the founder and Chief Editor of The Roving Heart and I welcome you to this blog!

My unquenchable need to explore, learn and grow is what led me to the creation of this blog, so here I am in this huge digital world calling this tiny little place my own!

I work in the travel industry as an engineer and travel with a full-time job (Oh yes, that’s possible!)

I’m perpetually in search of the next trip, next adventure and forever aching to fly far where the sky touches the sea or get lost in the mountains!

Be it snow trekking in the mighty Himalayan range, bungee jumping with a river view in Rishikesh, scuba diving in the clear turquoise blue waters of Maldives, deep diving in Sri Lanka, ziplining amidst the abundant forests of Thailand, high-altitude river rafting in the freezing cold rivers of Zanskar in Leh or volunteering at an Italian countryside near Rome – my propensity for new experiences is ever growing and as is my wishlist.

Be it the mountains or the beaches, I promise you to take you on an adventure!

So, buckle up, and let’s go on a ride!

“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves.
We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate.
We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed.
And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again – to slow time down and get taken in and fall in love once more.”

Pico Iyer, Travel writer
