I am a passionate traveler, photographer and an engineer by profession. I have always loved new travel experiences. However, it reached a whole new level when I took off for a Himalayan trek in May 2015 - it made me realise how totally gratifying travel can be. Since then, I have traveled near and far, as much as I can,  always looking for new and immersive adventures.

Be it trekking on snow in the mighty Himalayan range, bungee jumping with a river view in Rishikesh, cliff jumping or scuba diving in the emerald blue waters of Thailand, high-altitude river rafting at the freezing cold rivers of Zanskar in Leh - my propensity for new experiences is ever growing as is my wishlist.

Things to do in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is the ideal synthesis of culture, tradition, and history. Rajasthan is well known for its lavish Havelis, wildlife sanctuaries, and mouthwatering cuisine, but it also has a variety of fascinating activities that draw a lot of tourists.

In Rajasthan, there is no shortage of exciting and enjoyable activities, including zip line, flying fox, wildlife safaris, and hot air ballooning. It goes without saying that you can always go to the heritage forts to admire their magnificent architecture or go boating in the wonderful lakes. Check out the detailed list of the best things to do on the Rajasthan tour.

Table of Contents

  • Desert Safari in Jaisalmer
  • Camping and Cultural Evening
  • Kumbhalgarh Fort

Desert Safari in Jaisalmer

Tourists flock to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan because of its extensive desert sand dunes. Sam Sand Dunes is where Jaisalmer’s well-known Desert Safaris take place. A Jeep transports you to a location close to Sam Sand Dunes, where the approximately 90-minute camel ride begins. Along the route, you’ll visit a few attractions. The safaris can be taken in the morning or the evening, and are followed by a sumptuous lunch and a musical dance performance that highlights Rajasthani culture.

Camping and Cultural Evening

Jaisalmer is the perfect place to go camping and have a cultural evening because of the golden fort, sand dunes, and enchanted palaces. Anyone who wants to explore Rajasthan’s true character must include a camping trip on their bucket list. Numerous travel operators provide camping in addition to safaris, parasailing, paramotoring, and other activities. Another thrilling activity is doing a camel safari.

For outdoor activities, it is advisable to visit Jaisalmer between November and March when the temperature is temperate.

Kumbhalgarh Fort

One of the five hill forts in Rajasthan designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013 is Kumbhalgarh Fort. The second-largest wall in the world, measuring 38 kilometers, is at Kumbhalgarh Fort in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district, about 82 kilometers from Udaipur. At an elevation of 1,914 m, it is built on the foothills of the Aravalli ranges and is surrounded by thirteen of the ranges’ high peaks. A woodland that has been converted into a wildlife sanctuary surrounds the beautiful fort. After Chittorgarh Palace, it is the second-largest and most significant Mewar fort in the Rajasthan tour.

Hot Air Balloon in Jaipur

The capital of the illustrious state of Rajasthan is the pink city of India, Jaipur. The medieval city is home to numerous enormous forts and palaces that, although having aged over time, never cease to astound visitors with their exquisite architecture and splendor.

Over the years, Jaipur has developed into a highly sought-after tourist destination, drawing thousands of visitors
annually from all over the world. The city has also started to host a number of adventure activities that provide tourists with an unmatched travel experience.

The hot air balloon ride is one such amazing adventurous activity in Jaipur. Picture yourself flying above palaces, forts, and lakes while taking in the stunning scenery of the area, with the Aravali hills serving as the backdrop.

Camel Safari

Without taking a camel safari across the seemingly infinite expanse of the sandy terrain, a trip to the desert state of India couldn’t be complete.

For its visitors, the city of Jodhpur provides a variety of packages with varying lengths. The shortest of these safaris allows one to drive 70 km across the shimmering golden sands of the Thar desert to the historic town of Osian, which is significant to both Hindus and Jains due to its rich cultural history.

There are Rajasthan tour packages that allow travelers to experience the amazing journey from the blue city of Jodhpur to the golden city of Jaisalmer, spanning thousands of miles.

Dune Bashing

One of the most special and distinctive activities in Jaisalmer is dune bashing. This is an activity you should do if you have a spirit of adventure. Even when you are safely buckled into your seatbelts in the automobile, your heart rate will literally rise as you raft across the pits and falls of the gorgeous golden desert.

Pichola Lake Boating

A man-made lake called Lake Pichola can be seen in the center of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Due to its tranquility and beauty, Lake Pichola, one of the city’s biggest and oldest lakes and attracts thousands of tourists each year.

For those who enjoy the serenity and the natural world, it is a paradise, surrounded by tall hills, historic structures, and bathing ghats. Without taking a boat ride, particularly early in the morning, a trip to Lake Pichola is not complete.

When the sun is reflecting off of the pure water and historic buildings in the evenings, it appears as though the entire area has been covered in gold. The captivating sights will transport you to a distant, tranquil world and awaken your romantic side.
